We accidentally stumbled into this shop while looking for a specialty tea shop. While the shop itself was founded based on a certain religion, the staff were not pushy at all but took their time to explain the religion as well as the background of the different products. At 1.30, we then saw how the religion prays which was a short 5-minute thing. We ordered 3 different teas that were pretty decent, all for around MYR11, and there was even a little side to snack on.
Nestled in the heart of Penang, this cafe offers an oasis of tranquility that invites visitors to slow down and unwind. With its serene atmosphere and thoughtful decor, it provides a unique environment reminiscent of a Japanese zen garden. The cafe is seamlessly integrated within a religious bookstore, enhancing its spiritual and calming essence. As you enter, you're welcomed with the gentle reminder to remove your shoes, adding to the peaceful vibe that permeates the space.
Customers rave about the calming ambiance, making it a perfect spot for those seeking some personal time to sip tea, read a book, or simply meditate. Many visitors describe the feeling of being enveloped in serenity, providing a refreshing contrast to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The decor features natural wood and a color palette that promotes relaxation, making it easy to lose track of time as you immerse yourself in a good book or work on an engaging project.
The tea selection is another highlight, with affordable options that are often praised for their quality. Regulars recommend the pomelo tea, which has garnered a loyal following for its mild and delightful flavor. The emphasis on a healthy, simple menu allows for a focus on the zen experience, rather than a sprawling food menu. While the selection may be limited to mainly tea and a few snacks, the value, warmth of the staff, and the overall experience more than make up for it.
For those looking for a quiet place to work or study, this cafe is a haven. It has become a favorite among locals and travelers alike for its peaceful setting, where conversations are kept to whispers and the atmosphere encourages introspection and calm. The lack of Wi-Fi encourages visitors to disconnect and be fully present in the moment, making it an ideal spot to recharge both mind and spirit.
Overall, this cafe not only serves delicious tea but also nurtures the soul, offering a unique blend of relaxation, spiritual enlightenment, and community spirit. Whether you're a bookworm, a tea lover, or simply in need of a peaceful corner to escape to, this hidden gem is not to be missed when visiting Penang.
